Beef Goulash
The Classic Hungarian Dish

Ingredients:

2 lb. beef stew meat

2 tablespoons butter

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

seasoned salt

1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

3 cups chopped onion

2 carrots, coarsely chopped

1 clove garlic, chopped

2 tablespoons flour

2 tablespoons Hungarian paprika

1/2 teaspoon marjoram

2 tablespoons tomato paste

14 oz. beef broth

1 cup water

1 package Chateau potato dumplings


Directions:

In a frying pan, brown meat in butter and oil. Season, add onions, carrots, and garlic. Cook until onion is soft.

Add flour, paprika and marjoram and stir for 3 minutes.

Add remaining ingredients, simmer covered for 2 hours or until meat is tender.

Add frozen potato dumplings, cover and simmer for 30 minutes.

Goulash is even better when made a day ahead of time.
